Hey, you, there- with the ideas… come closer.

Hey Cobras, this is Daylin.

Believe it or not: your comments are not only for grades. They’re read. Every single one of them. By me. Not by choice, mind you. I have to read every comment before approving them to be on the site. I’ll admit, if it’s longer than 3 sentences I might just skim it. But it still counts as reading. And I’ve noticed the trends: the blog is nice, I want the old blog, the website needs to be updated, I want more posts, blah blah blah.

I have no power over the website. Last time I tried to change it, Diaz overrode my design and brought his own back. He thinks it’s a design marvel. It’s your fault. You told him it was nice. He believed you. Thanks a lot.

I want more people blogging. Annie stepped up, and thank whatever deity you believe in she did. We had two new blogs by the time I even remembered to approve your comments. [Truly sorry about that, by the way. I heard there was some minor freakouts over your comments not showing up in weeks. Twas my bad.] But we do have sections for Sports, Weather, and Entertainment in our blogs that have NOTHING under them and NO ONE writing for them. They’re sad. Please adopt one.

NO MORE HOW’S IT LOOKING BLOG POSTS AND COMMENTS. It’s difficult to get creative with so little going on. We wake up. We go to school. We do some reports. We yell at each other. We go to the next class. I’m not thrilled about going home to blog about it. But monotony makes me want to cry. You wouldn’t want to make me cry, would you? I sit through all your comments. All 56 “the blog looks nice” ones. And the 102 “do something!” ones. I know. It seems like we’ve been on the same topic since we started this idea. Time to let go. I’ll redesign when WordPress gives me something nicer. Promise.  So let’s talk about something else from now on, okay? And that’s not your fault! There are five blog posts up and 3 of them are Opinions on the Blog. What are you going to do? Comment on porcupines? I get you. It’s more of a “to the writer” [me] than to you guys. That’s why I want people blogging on different stuff they’re already managing on the Newscast.

Help me make this interesting. Adopt a blog topic. Blog about it. They need you. We need you.

EDIT: Yes, I read the comments on my last plea for help. I am currently tracking the Walkout footage for a post. Great stuff.

Maybe we should get the site up and running again like the beginning of the year. Then, we can ask the students of South Miami some blogging topics. That way we get the whole school involved

  2. CKnowles Says:

How do I adopt a ‘Fun & Games’ or ‘Programming’ blog?

    • thisisdaylin Says:

You sign up for a WordPress username. Send me an e-mail on Facebook with it and I’ll add you as a writer. Then you can make the blog posts and categorize them under whatever name you wish. Try not to use Fun & Games though. Two words that will- in all probability- block our website.

I agree with you Daylin. Everyone says “do something, change things up”, but in reality, if you have any idea on what we can write about, what we can say to make this weekly grade something that isn’t a hassle (as it shouldn’t be), then come forth and speak about it!!! The blog isn’t just for Daylin and me, its for the whole class, and heck if we get a little bit of advertising and such done, for the whole school. We should come together as a team and make it happen!

  4. Brian O.o Says:

Well yea porcupines are cuuuute buut they hurt when i hug em :’(. I can’t believe you actually go through hundreds of the same comments though I would get nightmares xD.

  5. Cristina Perez Says:

    • thisisdaylin Says:

You do the word of the day for the afternoon class, right? I don’t think that would do much for blog posts. But maybe entertainment since Annie is doing the overall stuff? Work it out with her. Maybe you have something you’d like to write about? Let me know.

      • Jeannie Glass Says:

yeah, i agree that wouldnt be too interesting to read. yeah, ill talk to annie tomorrow. im glad to help.

  12. Aisha Moktadier Says:

Daylin, I love your witty little blog entries. I think perhaps we could discuss the broadcast awards banquet, that’d be nice :]

  13. carlos cabrera Says:

Diaz should put someone actually in charge of the blog and a few people in charge of the site so he doesnt have to worry about them as much

    • thisisdaylin Says:

I am in charge of the blog. I wouldn’t trust anyone else on the site. He should put me in charge of that too.

  14. Annabelle Le Jeune Says:

actually that is a great idea. maybe everyone from each class should be responsible for every part of the website. that way not just 2 people have to do all the work

  15. Chris Caballero Says:

I wouldn’t mind taking up the sports blog. That would rake in some interesting topics

  16. Cristina Perez Says:

    make a cobra game online

  17. Alyona Shilova Says:

      Don’t worry about it, sweets!

    • Brian Says:

In Soviet Russia Blog comments on you! sorry had to i’ve read so many online that i had to take a shot at it :)

    • Tomás Monzón Says:

Aly, you gave me an idea. How about a “documentary” or a “insider” blog column where I or we could talk about real-life events or people in both school or our community. One possibility could be talking about you as an exchange student and w.e.; another could maybe be updates on school-related legislature (e.g. Bill 6); another could be reports on school activities influencing the community or occurring in the community (Interact/Key Club cleanups, yearbook’s car wash, culture shock, Engineering’s robotics competitions). These events wouldn’t have to be videotaped either; instead, in true journalistic fashion, a set of photographs and an interview or two would suffice to make a nice-looking blog post about the event.

  18. Paulina Bollat Says:

I think that everyone should make a part of this website. I agree completly. The newscast overall is done by teamwork not by two people. We should all do something to make each and every part of our bradcast as special as it is (:

  19. Manuel Serra Says:

I could also do a music news blog.

  20. carlos cabrera Says:

Yea i agree lets put each class in charge of a different section of the website so its not all up to one or two people

  21. ashley bedoya Says:

that cobra game online thing sounds good

  22. rfox Says:

  24. Keely Stroppasoderberg Says:

  25. Keely Stroppasoderberg Says:
